Worthless People

I showed Jesus a list of people
I had each picture in frame
The worthless, the cheaters and liars
The ones who pretend to be lame

I told Him they are unworthy
Undeserving of His mercy or grace
These people are all guilty of something
Just look at the dirt on each face

I know what sort of people they are
Though I don’t know a single name
I just know they are worthless
They really all look the same

Jesus then showed me His list
He had photos and images too
He asked; ‘do you recognize this one?
You’re speechless but.., ‘this one is you’

You deem them as worthless and hell-bound
Your judgement is true and exact
You forget the first frame is yours
Somehow you miss this one fact

For all are only worthy of damnation
All deserve My Father’s eternal wrath
But I died to make them all worthy
Counting you, just do the math

You are no better, or more deserving
Than the people you hold in contempt
And the only way you’ll get My mercy
Is to deny your own goodness and repent

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Luke 18:10-14 The Pharisee stood and was praying this to himself: 'God, I thank You that I am not like other people: swindlers, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. 'I fast twice a week; I pay tithes of all that I get.'…I fast twice a week; I pay tithes of all that I get.'

"But the tax collector, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me, the sinner!' "I tell you, this man went to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted."
