God Blew It

I left God in charge and He blew it
He let all the wrong people free
He showed mercy on the undeserving
Not on others as righteous as me

He granted full pardon to sinners
Whom if He’d asked, I’d have told Him they’d fail
I could have picked the real winners
I advised God to no avail

I peeked at the list God used earlier
I saw hookers, pimps and drug lords
I saw tyrants, abusers and killers
People whom mercy should not afford

But I noticed one person in the whole mix
Someone who matched my whole name
My face and even my persona
I thought, why did God remove blame

God stepped in and caught me while peeking
He found me as I read the list
He told me, yes that is you Michael
To forgive you I could not resist

Yes I loved you when you were unworthy
I embraced you, though I hated your sin
And I want you to do thusly to others
I send you out to others to win

I know you have discernment and judgment
I know you have logic and sense
But I give my mercy and grace
Wherever I chose to dispense

I am the first and last judge
The world’s only hope for salvation
I send you to declare my redemption
To proclaim this last revelation

Romans 9:15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.

Mt 5:45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

Mt 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Until You’ve Died

I told my Father I had given enough
I told Him that at least I had tried
He noted indeed that I’d done lots of stuff
Then He said, not enough till you’ve died

I frequented church, and offerings I gave
When I did wrong I quickly apologized
He told me that all that could not my soul save
Then He said, not enough till you’ve died

I am faithful to my family, I’m honest at work
My wife knows I do my best to provide
When it comes to responsibility I never do shirk
Then He said, not enough till you’ve died

He reminded me that even though His own Son
Healed the sick, raised the dead, had not implied
That such works were sufficient to get the job done
Then He said, not enough till you’ve died

I knelt down in prayer, again the usual kind
Listing things I should not be denied
The Holy Spirit spoke clear and straight to my mind
Then He said, not enough till you’ve died

Oh dear sinner, dear child, dear wandering saint
Captured as the world to you lied
God saw your good works full of sin’s darkest taint
Then He said, not enough till you’ve died

Die to your wishes, your desires for pleasure
To your arrogant nature and pride
Die to look good by your own measure
Then hear God say “live with me now that you’ve died”

Php 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

Php 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

Php 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

John 8:29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.

It Is Best

It really is best
When I’m hardest pressed
That when it really feels good
My soul feels great joy
When I’m mournful depressed
To think on it, and so it should

For God works His kindness
Not through the finest
Where there is neither pain nor real grief
God recognizes
That suffering defines us
And bring us to greater belief

So friend, sister, brother
By the way, any other
Who faces failure, fatigue and great fear
My God is there
More faithful than father or mother
There’s sweetness in each salty tear

Jas 1:2 Count it all joy, my brethren, when ye fall into manifold temptations;

Jas 1:3 Knowing that the proving of your faith worketh patience.

Jas 1:4 And let patience have its perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, lacking in nothing.

Ps 27:10 When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.

Compromised Voice

The moment we could not speak
Was a frightful one indeed
We found it happened slowly
Because before we had no need

When we were persecuting people
Those we also knew as savage
Those deemed not our equal
We kept quiet on the ravage

When we decided to import
Human cargo as mere chattel
We ignored their plight and pain
After all they were only cattle

While we treated women as objects
Tools of pleasure and for labor
We preached good news about Jesus
Love your enemy, but kill your neighbor

When we noticed exploitation
Of the pornographic kind
We insisted, it hurts no one
In fact sometimes we are so inclined

Then the issue of abortion
Hit front page, pro-life, pro choice
It was then we came to life
But by then we’d lost our voice

Now we have the sexuality
Gay rights, free love and such
And what can we say now
Not too loud and not too much

For we compromised our standards
We felt it best for the status quo
And though we raise our voice in crying
No one hears, or cares to know

Stand by God’s standard of good conduct
Yield to His holy will always
Let your life and voice resound
That is Jesus Christ who saves

Eze 3:18 When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand

Eze 3:19 Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.

On My Knees

When so many people are starving
While I still eat as much as I please
I am ashamed to say to you Jesus
I spend no time praising you on my knees

Oh I know I should be thankful
That is what the Bible decrees
But I am just too busy and proud Lord
I spend no time praising you on my knees

I see crippled and lame even blind men
Uneducated and even those with degrees
Bend down to you without shame Lord
I spend no time praising you on my knees

I have heard that you will make your return Lord
That in time all evil before you sure flees
It has been said in your word that even I Lord
Will spend eternity praising you on my knees

Philipians 2:10-11  That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;  And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Like Your Father

If you want to look just like your Father
Almost exactly as if you were cloned
You must learn how to forgive others
This aspect of His nature to own

You may never be able to perform miracles
Heal the sick, bring sight, death postpone
But seek Him to help you forgive others
This aspect of His nature to own

For you will never see heaven in your strength
The Holy Spirit does this work alone
Ask to become perfect like your Father
This aspect of His nature to own

Matthew 5:48 Be perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect

You Sinned/My Gift

You sinned so very greatly
I had to turn my face
I could not call you mine
You were truly a disgrace

You asked for my forgiveness
Yet you had no gift to give
So let me put it plainly
I should not have let you live

But then I did consider
That I left you free to choose
And could I ever blame you
If your freedom you abused

So I decided I would offer
A gift from you from me myself
After all the gifts you’d give me
Come right off of my own shelf

Nothing is really worthy
Nothing really will suffice
So I had to be the gift
I had to come as Christ

I was My own apology
I only give the best
And if you want forgiveness
You’ll come to Me and rest

Accept my own apology
The one I give to Me
Just say I thank you Lord
And then my child, you’re free

Ro 8:3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh

Ro 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Jas 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Ro 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Seems Odd

It may sound rather funny
It may seem kind of odd
But I only mention Jesus
When I need something from God

I can get along alright
With some problems now and then
But I find it pretty normal
To rarely mention Him

God only serves a purpose
To fulfill my personal needs
So I really have no interest
In doing Christian deeds

Give me what I want God
Give it to me now I pray
And let me find my comfort
In what I want today

If there is a thing called heaven
And if indeed there is a hell
Let me do my own bidding
Let others that story tell

I believe that Jesus loves me
At least that’s what the Bible says
For now that’s no bad answer
And it will have to serve as praise

Isa 29:13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

Feed The Dead

It really is quite stupid
I can’t get it through my head
They are not even hungry
So why try to feed the dead

They show no signs of life
They are not asking to be fed
But I spread the table before them
And keep trying to feed the dead

Rigor mortis has set in
Blood is black that once was red
Bloated bellies, rotting corpses
What can I expect, they’re dead

So I guess I should accept one day
The things I previously have said
Don’t expect requests for seconds
When you are trying to feed the dead

1Pe 4:6 For for this cause was the gospel preached  also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.

An Audience of One

You should play to an audience of one
Have only God to impress
And if you hear His applause
You’ll know you’ve done your best

The world may laugh or ignore you
And tell you your best just won’t do
But when God speaks His word is final
When He smiles, the contest is through

Play for God’s approval and joy
Make Him laugh, He likes to grin
Only He can determine the winners
Give Him your best, that’s how you win

Mt 6:18 That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

Joh 10:30 I and my Father are one.

Joh 8:29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.
