Two Become One

When you are together I am there
I watch how both of you share
As you caress and tease
As you touch and please
I smile with with great ease
I am there

For I am honored as you two become one
I am glorified as you honor my Son
For as you honor your vows
It enables, allows
A joy that is surpassed by none

Eph 5:31: For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

Eph 5:32: This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

Instead

I asked him if he’d been to church
He paused and then softly said
I haven’t had a thing to eat today
I just watched your life instead
I asked if she’d opened a Bible
She looked up and in anger turned red
My children are hungry and cold
I just watched your life instead
I asked if he prayed before sleeping
He paused and then raised his head
The guards beat and mistreat me
I just watched your life instead
I asked if she’d like to meet Jesus
She showed me just blankets, no bed
It is cold and at night men come for me
I just watched your life instead
Oh the luxury of asking soft questions
To those who live hard lives I would dread
My religion means not what I speak
As they watch what I live instead

James 2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

Matt 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

I Pray You Die

I pray you die before you die
I hope you truly learn to live
I pray that you will on God rely
To teach you to forgive
I cannot wait ‘til others
Have done just right by me
I must embrace sisters and brothers
If I want to live eternally
That means I must have death
In order to live life at its best
And before I draw my last breath
I must pass this final test
Have I learned to forgive, forget
Did I learn to forgive again
Or am standing on my rights yet
Waiting for the other to give in
Die to the hope of getting even
Go ahead and let go of past pain
Die to the thoughts of sweet revenge
Die to self, be born again

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

A Disturbing Peace

A peace that divides
A peace of discord
A peace that destroys
And yet brings accord
A peace that disturbs
A peace that brings fights
A peace that exposes
A peace that unites
For the peace that I give
Will cause you to decide
If with worldly values you’ll stay
Or with me solely abide
I come to conquer, defeat
I come to make your will mine
This peace that divides
Is peace holy divine

Matt 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

Matt 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

Matt 10:36 And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.

Mt 10:37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

You Must Be Kidding Jesus

You must be kidding Jesus
You must have lost your mind
I ask for eternal life
That’s all I want to find
Instead you give some word
Stupid advice off top of head
To sell all that I have
And follow you instead
You take me for a fool
I only want religion
I follow all the rules
Make good moral decisions
If following you means losing
The things that I have got
Then I’ll change the prayer I’m using
And you I’ll follow not
As for heaven, it’s so far off
I want what I see right now
I’ll do the best I can
And make it in somehow

Mark 10:17 And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?

Mark 10:21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

Mark  10:22 And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.

Every Year

Every year you do the same
You celebrate Christmas
But you don’t mention my name
You drape your home with cheap tinsel and foil
It makes you feel good
But you forget I am royal
You stand in long lines buying lots of new stuff
You say it’s in My honor
Well, I have enough
Do something for Me this holiday season
Reflect on my birth
It was for a real reason

Itty Bitty God

If God is itty bittyIf He is really small
There are no such things as miracles
He can’t do much at all

He can’t divide the waters
He cannot raise the dead
He can’t make blind men see
Nor can 5000 be fed

If God is really tiny
And weak like you and me
Such things as virgin birth
Are impossible you see

He cannot heal my sickness
He can’t even answer prayer
So I could keep on living
As though God is not there

But if He is a big God
And if the Bible true
I should best believe His word
And try to live it too

Matt 19:26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

Luke 1:37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.

A Divisive Peace

A peace that divides
A peace of discord
A peace that destroys
And yet brings accord
A peace that disturbs
A peace that brings fights
A peace that exposes
A peace that unites
For the peace that I give
Will cause you to decide
If with worldly values you’ll stay
Or with me solely abide
I come to conquer, defeat
I come to make your will mine
This peace that divides
Is peace holy divine

Matt 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

Matt 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

Matt 10:36 And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.

Mt 10:37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

A Man of Honor

Lord make me a man of honor
A man that is true to his word
The promise I make, I fulfill it
Almost the instant it’s heard
Don’t let me speak as a braggart
Making pledges for the purpose of show
Let my intent be pure and holy
Let my life Christ’s love clearly show
Indeed let my word as it is spoken
Be the word that You actually say
Lord make me a man of honor
Make me live the words that I say

Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

My Easy Evil

I like my easy evil
It helps me to fit in
Most people never notice
Don’t even think it’s sin
I cheat and hold long grudges
I backbite, envy, covet
Mine is an easy evil
I don’t even think much of it
A casual look at things ‘quite naughty’
A glance at things forbidden
This evil is so easy
I hardly keep it hidden
I don’t commit real murder
At least no one has died
I do spread rumors and gossip
So, who’s to know I lied?
Adultery is far from me
I just like to watch it done
It’s just TV entertainment
It’s free, it’s there, it’s fun
So it is the easy evil
Without worry or remorse
After all this is my life
It is I who set my course

Proverbs 3:7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

Psalm 101:3 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes
