Nice people go to hell. Bad people go to heaven. Or is it the other way around? Shouldn’t nice people go to heaven and bad people go to hell? That would seem to be justice from the human point of view and even those who claim to be religious and Christian.
The problem with this logic is it runs counter to the narrative of the Bible. There are no nice or bad people in the Bible. There are those who have been redeemed and there are those who have not been redeemed. Sadly, those who claim they have been redeemed believe they have been good enough to deserve heaven. Those who claim Christ as Lord get confused. They somehow believe they are nice enough and worthy enough to go to heaven. We glower, scowl, frown and demean those whom we believe are not worthy like us. They are bad. We are nice. We are good. They are evil.
The Bible refutes this premise. It is a lie. Our redemption is solely based on the fact that God chose us independent, regardless, notwithstanding how evil and corrupt we are. If we get to heaven it will be based upon His mercy and grace.
Take note to remember the next time you puff out your chest and look down on those whom you feel are not as good as you. We think God should destroy evil in our midst right now. If He were to do so, we would be amongst those who are destroyed. Rely on God’s mercy and grace not on your being a nice person. Nice people are in hell.
Romans 5:8-9 KJV
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through
Bad people are in heaven. God chooses to determine who is worthy based upon his own standard and not our understanding. I cannot work hard enough or be good enough to make it into heaven. That is God’s work.
Ephesians chapter 2:8-9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.
