Knock, knock.
Who’s there?
The religious guy.
Let me in or else!
Well, at least I knocked.
Jesus never comes with a warrant. He never forces compliance. The Savior doesn’t use no knock entry to burst into a heart or home. So why do we as Christians feel we must compel people to believe as we do? What example of Christ are we modeling?
The book of Revelation quotes the Christ as saying:
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
Revelation 3:20 KJV
The gospel of Matthew states:
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28 KJV
There is no hint of forced entry or coercion. Jesus invites and requests us to fellowship with Him.
If I find myself trying to beat people into loving Jesus, I must change tactics. I cannot coerce, or convince someone to love Jesus. The job of salvation is not mine. That is the Holy Spirit’s job. I am only called to be a witness and to teach.
Knock, knock.
Who’s there.
Jesus.
Jesus who?
The Savior of the world. Can I come in?
